Standard Precautions and Infection Control Measures
This discussion board is your chance to describe how standard precautions and infection control measures during health assessment and physical appraisal in the nursing profession can help to protect the patient and the examiner.
Review the CDCs and HHS website for recommendations on standard precautions and infection control measures to explore protecting patients and healthcare professionals. Healthcare associated infections (HAIs) are considered one of the most serious problems as they are common causes of morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients. Improving patient safety by reducing the national rate of HAIs is an important goal of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2022), standard precautions are defined as “the minimum infection prevention measures that should be applied to all patient care”
Discuss how standard precautions and infection control measures can be applied to assessment skills including vital signs measurement.
