WHAT YOU NEED TO WRITE THE REVIEW ABOUT IS IN THE ATTACHMENT.
ITS 2 PAGES REVIEW.
• Music Encountered and CD review: It’s a class about music, so include a music event as part of your overall trip or discuss examples of music (popular and/or traditional) you may encounter during your travels. Highlight any interesting or important instruments you discover. You may use your textbook, but also look for outside sources like The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music.
Included in the music you encounter should be a CD review related to your destination (Perhaps you decided to pick up this CD at a concert you attended on your travels). The review should start with CD title, names of artists & instruments if appropriate, and short production info (company, date, etc.) The body of the review should describe the music objectively to the reader: genres, place in culture (history of the music, what it is used for today), styles and distinctive musical elements- draw from the concepts we have learned in class and have been using all semester. Choose one or two tracks to go into detail. If you discuss a song, be sure to look at text and tell the reader what it is about. Look for a CD that has a nice booklet included. Smithsonian Folkways and Rounder Records are good record labels to look for. You
